GMS Project Adventure is an adventure day travel camp; we are outdoors
in nature everyday prohibiting dramatic weather that safety would merit
the need to be sheltered. Curiosity, inquiry, problem solving, risk taking, confidence, realization, compassion, caring, intellect, integrity, positive group interaction are amount the qualities we seek to foster in campers of all ages. GMS also concentrates on such goals as
the ability to work in small groups toward the completion
of tasks, conflict resolution, increased self-awareness and real
self-confidence based on real personal accomplishments. GMS
uses beaches and other natural and historical areas throughout
GMS draws on the estuarine environment, local
woodlands and wetlands to involve participants in a variety of different
physical challenges and educational activities including: adventure games,
problem solving, rock climbing, bouldering,
orienteering, building hermit huts, tide pooling, marine studies, nature
studies, environmental stewardship, hiking,
dory rowing, outdoor safety,
swimming, snorkeling and
camping. GMS
also seeks to foster an understanding and appreciation of the social and
physical environment of Cape Ann, through exposing campers to the
wonderful natural world around them, educating them in the history
and development of Gloucester
and Cape
Ann as well as exploring the area’s natural
and economical
resources to promote lifelong environmental stewardship.
